- 'Before
you to Galilee' begins with the
Resurrection message to the women at the
tomb when the angel told them to encourage
the disciples with these words: 'He is
going before you to Galilee…There you
will see him, just as he promised'.
- We
imagine the grieving disciples leaving
Jerusalem as the angel directed and
returning to the Lake they knew as home.
There, in quieter, more familiar
surroundings, they recall earlier
experiences in the company of Jesus and
begin to see them in a new
light.

- We
all struggle at times, as the disciples
did, to accept the death of Jesus and to
allow his new life to transform our
ordinariness. We too may feel weary and
dejected. Like the disciples of Jesus, the
angel's invitation to 'come home' with the
Risen Lord is one we all need to
hear.
Sadly,
Galilee no longer exists as Jesus knew it.
The waters of the Lake he walked upon are
shrinking. Human livelihoods and the once
teeming wildlife which depend upon its
fresh waters are threatened by the pumping
of water for drinking and irrigation. Even
so, this once green and fertile area
beloved of Jesus may still represent all
that is green and fresh within
us.
